Trip to Santiago, Chile

Matthew loved the Hands on Childrens museum!
Cooking away like his daddy!
Loving the big piano!
He loved playing outside in the hot sun.
Even petted a huge frog at the aquarium.
On the way back from Iguazu, Argentina we enjoyed a couple of days in the big city of Santiago, Chile.  We had a great time!

Southern Cone retreat to Iguazu, Argentina

Matthew was not impressed with the Falls:)

Kaylee,  Matthew and Chaz

We just got back this week from our Southern Cone missionary retreat to Iguazu, Argentina.  We enjoyed seeing some friends from language school and meeting new ones from our region.  We especially loved being in true summer weather!

Spring in Punta Arenas, Chile---October 2008

Tulips
One of 5 rose bushes
Not sure but I'm going to call them bluebells
Not sure, look like some sort of daisy
No clue!  It's fuzzy though
Calafate- looks just like blueberries
Again, Calafate--Look closely and you'll see the thorns
This reminds me of dogwood
Rhubarb
Mint

It's October and it's officially spring here in Punta Arenas, Chile.  Here are a few pics of some plants in bloom in our yard.  I'm not sure what they all are, but if you find out, let me know!

Pics of Matthew

We'll see if I can upload some photos of sweet Matthew.  He is 3 now and is curious about everything.  He just started daycare/ el jardin Thursday.  So far he loves it.  The name of his school is Jardin Nido Azul, which means Blue Nest.  Which is perfect since it is the kinder on the Chilean Airforce base here in Punta Arenas.  It is only about 2 minutes, if that, from our house.  One of my English students is in the airforce here and got us the recommendation for Matthew to be able to attend Nido Azul.  He is the only English speaking child in the school and hopefully his Spanish will improve rapidly.  I only hope I'll be able to keep up with him!
The pics are of the daycare and an airforce building across the street.  Also a couple of pics with one of his teachers, Tia Sole (pronounced so-lay), and one of his classmates, Sophia.

Before the Flight

These are some pics of us with Daddy before we took him to the airport to leave for Costa Rica.  We're gonna miss Daddy!

Chilean Independence Day, Sept. 18th

The Chilean army brought all of their cool vehicles to the mall at the free zone(the area where you don't have to pay taxes on the items you purchase and all the items are imported).  We just had to go see all the big "trucks" and climb inside.

Aaron's B-Day

We made a cake early for Daddy, chocolate, his favorite!  The fact that it was a Betty Crocker cake made it even better.  We paid dearly for the imported cake, but it was worth it:)!  Matthew had to help Daddy blow the candles out.  Candles don't stay lit very long if Matthew is in the room!
We miss you Daddy and wish we could be in Costa Rica to celebrate with you!

Starting a Blog

Well, I thought I'd try to start a blog.  I love keeping up with my friends who have blogs and I figured maybe I would try to blog about our family and what we're doing here in Chile.  I'll try to post regularly, no promises though.
